Visits with family & friends!

Here's a rundown of our latest house guests...

  • Brent's parents & one of his nephews came for a little visit. After a short time, Tess warmed right up to "Badotti" and "Pappa" which I was so glad about. She has a short list of those people she will go to and I'm so glad she was comfortable around them! They loved on her and she did the same with them.
  • My good friend came up with her children for a day & Tess enjoyed playing with some new pals. Emily's oldest daughter, Elly was so sweet to Tess and made her a little headband out of flowers. Tess also attached herself to Elly and cried when she left!

My dear friend and her sweet children...
Notice the little flower headband Tess is cute is that?!

  1. Looks like a fun visit! Tess is just adorable!

  2. It depends on what I do to her hair, it takes anywhere from 15 mins, to an hour. She doesn't sit still for more than 30 mins at a time, so sometimes I have break our session into 2 parts... I think just two puffs on the top of the head is my favorite, but we've gotten up to 16 before. I belong to a yahoo group for transratial adoptive familys, it's all about hair and skin care. There are pictures and directions on how to do a TON of different looks. You should check it out!!!

You could try parting her hair into four sections, front to back, ear to ear and do 4 puffs, or from there part at an angle (like a pizza) and put puffs along the rim of her head...Like a crown. I can't do twists to save my life and those are sup to be easy!?!? Or you could do a row of little puffs in the front like a headband and just let the back free, that would be cute, and you could put little bows on each puff...

Just a few thoughts. Start with wet hair, a sippy full of milk and a Praise Baby dvd (that's what works for us!)

  3. WOW! You all have been busy!! LOL! Tess is such a cutie, I can't believe how big she is getting!!
    Hugs, Jill

  4. thanks for stopping by my blog! Your Tess is adorable! I can't wait to hear your story as well!! :)

  5. go to the yahoo home page and click on groups. I just did a search for transratial adoption, hair and skin care. I don't remember what the name of the group is, but it's the only one on there, so it shouldn't be too hard to find.

As far as products go, we use Silkin' Child from Sally's. It's a shampoo and conditioner line that seems to work really well. It also has a detangler spray and daily moisturizer. Aliya's hair is pretty thick and tight dry curls... Some days I just spray it down with a water bottle, add in a little oil sheen to help make it combable and then add the moisturizer to it and go. This line of product is also VERY reasonably priced, like $4 a bottle!!! Can't beat that!

  6. so blessed to have two sets of grandparents to love such a precious little one.Sure wish this set was a little closer to our Tess.but Acts 20:24 keeps Paw Paw @Grammie up here in ME. Emily,s children are beatiful! Glad you put that on there for me to see. The flower head band is so sweet!!
