"What color is her?"

Friends have often asked me if I have noticed others taking second glances at our family because of our difference in skin color. We don't all "match". My only encounter was several weeks after we bought Tess home and I was in Target and I'm sure a well meaning lady asked "What is she?" (I know...strange way to pose a question) Not sure if she was taking about gender or race I just answered, she's a girl. Come to find out that's not what she wanted to know. That's been it, until tonight at church. Tess and a little boy were sitting at the table eating a snack and he reached over and rubbed her hand and innocently asked me, "what color is her?" I said, "she is brown, what color are you?" He looked at his hand then back at Tess and answered, "I don't know" He wasn't sure of the color of either one of them he just recognized that his hand looked a little different than hers. And that was that, off the play with Mr. Potato Head! I forget sometimes that Tess is a different color than me, I just see Tess, my daughter. How good it is that God puts his bride together with people that don't look or act just like me! From every tribe, nation & language our different color hands will be raised crying in a loud voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne...praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power and strength be to our God for ever and ever." Rev. 7:10 & 12
