Looking Back

One year ago today, Brent & I, along with my mom, his parents, sister and her little girl, sat in a courtroom and heard a judge decree that our little girl was our "legal" child. "From the date of this decree, Tess... shall be declared to be and considered a natural child of said parents."

Did you read that...declared to be & considered a natural child of ours...wow! What an overwhelming picture of what our Father does for us through the blood of his son! Makes me, who had no rights, no inheritance and a stranger, part of his family ~ by DECLARING ME INNOCENT through His precious son's sacrifice! I'm now part of the vine ~ I've been grafted in!! I'VE BEEN ADOPTED!!! Read Ephesians 1:1-14 !!

She had been ours long before that moment but in the eyes of our legal system this was the day that all previous parental rights were officially terminated and she would be forever our Tess. What a day~words seem so inadequate to describe what we felt that day. I have very few pictures of the "adoption day", no pictures of us with the judge like many others I have seen, no pictures of us with our sweet family who supported us and prayed with us on that day~ just one or two of Brent & I with Tess after we got home. It doesn't matter ~ the images of that day are forever ingrained in my mind. Because of circumstances surrounding the birth father & some extended family, we though it best not to take Tess to court with us. She was safely at home. Her home ~ her forever home!!!

The road to that day was

long

difficult

painful~

Our only hope was Jesus!!

In our pain & dark days He showed himself to be

FAITHFUL

MERCIFUL

THE ALMIGHTY!!

PRAISE BE TO YOU OH FATHER!!!
HOW DEEP IS YOUR LOVE FOR US!!!

I could not express it any better than Tess does in this video ~
she does not say the word "love" she just hugs herself!

  1. What an amazing God we have! My best friend has adopted two children and every time the adoption-versary comes around it is a celebration of God's goodness.

  2. Beautiful! I love how adoption is such a great reflection of our own relationship to our Heavenly Father. Love the video, too. She is adorable.
