Only God.

My littlest one is 4 months old today.  I can hardly believe how fast these past 4 months have flown by. It has been a whirlwind but God brought him to us in a whirlwind...the story too unbelievable to be pulled off by us mere humans.  Homestudy not even officially approved, no money to finance this adoption, not even a room cleared out for him to sleep.  All within the course of a week we get a call that there is a baby boy arriving within a week or two, birth mother wants to meet us, we need $17, 000 to give to the adoption agency...yes $17, 000!  We would not even have time to apply for loans, like I said...nothing us mere mortals could do.

ONLY GOD...
  • could orchestrate all the details to bring this child to us
  • could, at the right time, put the people in our lives who would graciously write us a check for $17,000 and ask to remain anonymous so that God would receive all the glory & not them!
  • would allow a single mom to look at 6 profiles before looking at ours # 7
  • would give that single mom peace as she looked at Tess' happy little face in those pictures
  • could give us words to say to a woman who is thinking about making one of the hardest decisions in her life
  • allow us to take this itty bitty 6 lb 6 oz. little boy home with us from the hospital
It's just crazy...adoptions just don't happen like this, typically that is, of course we don't serve a typical God.  We serve a God who likes to spice things up, who brings to us to point of saying, "Only YOU God can pull this thing off" and when he does, we can shout with the Psalmist ~
I give thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart; before the gods I sing your praise; I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness, for you have exalted above all things your name and your word. On the day I called, you answered me; my strength of soul you increased. Psalm 138:1-3
So I celebrate...because only God could create a life from another womb, place him in a family with a mom, dad and sister who have no biological ties to one another, and give us the privilege, responsibility and joy to call him our son and Tess' brother.   ONLY GOD!!

  1. I am choked up reading this!! Wow. You are right that it is only God. He is SO SO cute in these photos (as you well know!!) a most precious gift that any family would be SO blessed by and God choose YOU. Fantastic!! He and Tess were meant to be together for sure. I love him and want to squeeze him and I want to take pictures of he and Jasmine together. :) Any chance you will be coming to Dallas this summer? :)
