A young head thinking about old hats

These are my grandmother's hats...they have been sitting in these hatboxes for years ~ some of them for more than 4 decades.   They are beautiful, they scream refinement and I would love to wear them...but I'm not a hat person, not these type anyway.  A baseball hat is about as fancy as I get.  But I think I every women secretly wishes she could pull off wearing hats.  Didn't you just love watching all those hats displayed ~ good and bad~ at the royal wedding?  I was one of those little girls who wore a hat every Easter with the accompanying white gloves and shiny new purse...it just made you feel, well, girly.   I unwrapped these hats on a recent trip to the farm, then after taking pictures I gently placed them back in their protective boxes, tied the ribbons and put them back in the closet...like a secret treasure waiting for another little girl to find.  Maybe one day I'll be brave enough to wear one...my grandmother would be oh so proud!

  1. So maybe you can't wear them, but who said you can't decorate with them? A cute pink one in a shadow box or on a shelf in Tess's room? On display in a china cabinet? Accessories don't have to be just worn! And...I'm seeing a photo shoot of Tess modeling these with an oh-so poofy tutu and white tank top (thank me later) :)
