30 Days of Thankful - Good tunes

Day 5 - For good music

Music soothes, inspires, encourages and is just good for the soul.  No wonder David sang all the time.  No wonder Martin Luther said this about it...
"Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us."  and this “My heart, which is so full to overflowing, has often been solaced and refreshed by music when sick and weary.”

And we all know this to be true.  We have been there, wether it be in corporate worship when you are just overwhelmed with God's goodness expressed to us by song, or sitting alone at your kitchen table listening to something that convicts your heart, or shouting singing at the top of your lungs "Good Morning" by Mandisa while your kiddos happily dance in the backseat!  Music is good for the heart, the head and yes the soul!

And let me add that I'm not just talking about "christian" music.   There is no mention of God in any of George Winston's beautiful piano arrangements or in the dance around the house tune of  Choctaw Hayride by Alison Krauss & Union Station. And let's not mention my secret love of classical music.  I mean, come on, who doesn't feel good when they hear Pachelbel's Canon in D?  But even though they do not talk speak of God they can still cause us to thank him for talented musicians who create good music.

So, for good foot stomping, soul lifting, tear inducing, dance evoking music - I am thankful.

And since I mentioned my "go-to" morning dance number - here you go.  Listen and be thankful for a new morning!  And I won't even tell if you want to dance a little jig. ;)
